Three By the Sea: Part 1

What could be better than a baby shower for 1 expecting mom? A baby shower for THREE expecting moms! Yes, that's right... this weekend, my friend and co-worker, McKenzie, and I hosted a triple baby shower for 3 of our expecting friends (also co-workers). With 20+ fellow OB nurses in attendance, if anyone were to unexpectantly go into labor & have a baby outside of the hospital- this would be the perfect place! We had a lovely & gracious group guests & I couldn't be more pleased with the way everything turned out.
Here's a few photos from the shower! Enjoy! How to's and more in-to-depth info will eventually come in part 2.

Pot-luck style. The counter was filled with treats. This photo was taken before everyone arrived.

Aren't these ladies lovely? They are all due at the same time this summer. I hope I look that good when I'm pregnant. Gorgeous!

A special thanks to McKenzie for co-hosting & doing such amazing work. We make a good team! Check out her blog, Life on Glory Acres,  for posts as well!

More to come later... Beginning my stretch at work tonight (i.e.- I'll be MIA for a few days).

A little something

There's a little something called exercise & girlfriends that I'm extremely grateful for today. Heading straight to the gym after having a crazy night at work is simply brilliant. I must do this more often! Even better is when I can meet up with my RN friend Catherine after her busy night as well. Share stories, vent, workout... it's great.

It's refreshing.

Let me tell you... if you had a withdrawing newborn patient who didn't sleep a wink all night and cried yelled its sweet little face off,  after a 12 hr shift 10 minutes, you'd be pretty frazzled too! Add all my other patients and a full unit in there as well... and boy am I pooped! Thankful for hardworking team members & positive attitudes!

Guess what this weekend is...

Yep, you guessed it: the triple baby shower! I'm excited!!!

Dishes & Shell Tunes

Enjoying our Beyond Jordan Dishes & homemade pasta sauce.

No recipe to share- we made it up & would be guesstimating to share.... but it was tasty!

Has anyone noticed how "sea" themed things are everywhere... e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e.

I like the subtle and timeless touch of sea in Beyond Jordan's collection opposed to what I've been seeing in the stores over the past few weeks.

Next on my list to get & brand new:

Natural sound amplification to the max! No electricity- all natural. And pretty to look at too! Get it while it's hot...

Check out the video here to see how it works (don't use firefox).

What do you guys think? We'd love to hear feedback!

Ok, ok... my Dad makes all of these and I might be a tad bit bias. But I seriously love this collection and am lucky to have pieces of it in my home. I just keep wanting more!

Portland Farmer's Market

One of the best parts about living in the city is being so close to fun things like Saturday Farmer's Markets. Even better: free public transportation. Thank you Portland for having so many transportation options. And, for never failing to deliver endless entertainment on your busy streets. I love people-watching and could probably do it for endless hours every day.

Jon, Andrew, & Brandon enjoying pine state biscuits. So yummy!

This guy is not only crazy, but more-so, incredibly creepy... See what I mean about endless entertainment on the streets of Portland?

Beautiful family -- sorry for the blur!
Christine, Catherine, little Sam, and me

I look forward to more Saturday farmer's markets this summer! Do you have a favorite farmer's market buy? I usually feel overwhelmed and end up leaving with just photographs on my camera and nothing purchased. Maybe that's for the better...

Power breakfast from the hubs

Here's to my sweet husband who made me this "breakfast" (at dinner time) before heading to work all night. And who commiserated with me while I moped about having to sleep & work through the most beautiful 3 days Portland has seen in ages. 80 degrees and sunny for 3 days straight? Ugh.... And who's arms I came home to after work and just cried to (after a mildly traumatizing event occurred during my shift). I adore this man & seriously couldn't make it without him.

Power Smoothie
spinach
kale
carrots
banana
frozen fruit mixture
orange juice
non-fat greek yogurt
blueberries
milk
We don't measure... just throw hand-fulls into the blender until correct consistency & until it tastes sweet enough for your liking.

Enjoy!

Patio Planning

Ikea Bistro set $50
Ikea Bistro set $70. Perfect for our mini-patio
Ikea Chair cushions ($7)
Now that we have a mini-porch, my mind is spinning for some functional patio decor! Here's what I'm thinking: A bistro table & chairs that will weather well. Some cute chair cushions that we will bring out when using and bring back in when finished to keep clean. Maybe a few plants as well! On the few sunny afternoons we've had thus far, I've made good use of the porch with my yoga mat. An upgrade is in order!

Stay tuned for progress! (I have to get Andrew on board first...). Who knows, I may throw a coat of paint on the wood as well. Have to throw some DIY in there somehow.

Speaking of DIY- this project is definitely on my summer to-do list! Check it out! How awesome and simple is this!?

Trains.Tulips.Tractors

Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm ~Woodburn, OR

1. We fell in love with those tractor/train things. How cool are they?
2. Harp music is just what I want to hear when gazing at tulip fields. Genius.
3. I like flower festivals/fields far better than the pumpkin patch. No smelly animals!
4. I learned via pinterest that if you place a penny in a vase of tulips- they will stand up straight instead of wilting over. Try it next time!
5. Try saying "trains, tulips, tractors" 5 times fast...  I struggle...
