Anna & Jeremy | Wedding sneak peek

It's been a busy weekend full of love, friendship, flowers, and photos! That's right, I photographed my first wedding. Though I was scared to death to take on such an important event, it was a blast! My partner in crime, Catherine, coordinated the day and was the florist. She is very talented and taught me so much as I was able to help with the flowers as well. I couldn't help but share a couple of photos from the first round of downloads.

More about this lovely bride & groom will come with the actual wedding post, but let me tell you... I definitely love them and can't get over how perfect they are for each other.

As for me, it's vacation week with my man, so I'm "off the grid" for a week (except for this post of course). Have a great week!

Awesome & Awkward Wednesday

 Awesome
  • Playing "zombies" on the foggy beach with the cousins (Have you watched the Walking Dead? Gruesome, but great show... Hence where my current zombie fascination stems).
  • This Zombie 5K run. You need motivation to run? How about zombies coming after you the whole time? Seriously, how much fun would this be?
  • Spending relaxing time at the beach with family all weekend with tons of delicious food
  • Watching my mister enjoy himself without schoolwork and studying looming over his head. He's so happy...
  • Long walks & good talks
  • I've gone without my coffee treats for almost a week.... whhhhaaaattt?
  • Morning yoga on the beach. SO relaxing
Awkward
  • The teenage boy at the self-check-out stand having to get my attention to tell me: "ummm.... your.... uhh... (his face turns bright red).... umm... those..... (points)... Yeah, those are on my bagging... umm.. area... ". Translation: Your feminine products are on my bagging area. I chuckled the whole way out to my car. Hehe...
  • Trying to eat lunch while the window washing man washes the windows right next to the kitchen... then moving to the bedroom to eat because it was just too weird
  • The people that came out of their house to see why I was photographing something in their yard from my car... stopped in the middle of the road...  It was worth the weird looks
  • Working on a different unit that I usually do and stumbling around to find equipment. "Hello, I'm Jenna and I'll be your awkward night nurse who appears like she doesn't know what she's doing. So nice to meet you."

Up! love

These two make me smile. They have so much love for each other and simply couldn't be more sweet and adorable. Plus- what Dad/Grandfather wouldn't want to wear a #1 Dad ribbon all day?
Meet my hubby's grandparents. I guess that would make them my Grandma/pa-in-law. Their friendship, marriage,  and kindness is such a beautiful example to all around them.

I truly believe that one of the most important parts of a relationship and marriage is being best friends. The "Up! kind of love" (from the movie Up!).

I really want to watch this movie now. And the Notebook.... And every other sappy love movie in my repertoire...

Fog Man

We took a long walk on the beach and spotted this old man in the distance.

It was a foggy, warm, beautiful beach day. May not look beautiful or warm to you, but trust me when I say it was nice. I even got sun-burnt. Shocker. A family getaway to the coast is just what I needed. And, it's not over yet. Get ready for more (warmer looking) beach pictures over the next few days! Consider this your warning!

You take the cake

Always makes me laugh
Holding back happy tears

From the long drives after church to the air-field to watch the planes (which I hated at the time), to the what-seemed-like-hours that you had me hold the flash light on whatever project you were working on, to the art/photography/painting lessons, to the beach walks, to the long talks, to the history lessons, and encouraging phone calls/emails/snail mail.... You take the cake for the best Dad ever.

Love you Pops! So thankful to have you as my father. Happy Father's Day!

Sugar Surprise

If I just finished my first year of medical school, I think I'd like to be surprised with a tower of doughnuts when I walk in the door. How about you? At least that's what I think my hubby would like. We'll see...

Okay, I admit... the tower was supposed to be a whopping 1 doughnut higher. I bet you can't guess where the 4th one went...
You try to avoid inhaling one after a 12 hr shift!

PS
I'm doing a major happy dance right now. For a few reasons:

1. Sugar high
2. Hubby is done with school for a few months!
3. I just worked all night and am fuzzy headed... but I don't have to go back for a few days!!!
4. It's ridiculously beautiful outside
4. We're headed to my happy place this afternoon
5. We are in charge of cooking dinner for everyone tonight. You guessed it, we're having mexican food! Duh....
6. Family time all weekend!

Have a splendid weekend folks!

Spending time with this little man isn't so bad either.

This girl had her baby boy! Congrats my friend!

2 more work nights until lots of this.
Can't wait!

I hope you are all having a wonderful week!

Moments...

I love moments like these...

When I realize that my husband could not be more perfect for me. That his humor, his patience, his kindness, his laughter, his ability to empathize, to understand, to comfort, & to make me laugh is simply perfect.

When he comes home and I sneak around the corner to surprise-rapter-attack him and he is already in rapter mode to counter attack. (He makes a pretty darn believable rapter. Sound effects and all). Real mature, I know. Have I mentioned his love for dinosaurs?

When he plays his favorite song of the day and beat boxes through it before bed, and then gets all upset at himself because it riled him up... yet he does it night after night.

When he prays out loud before going to sleep. Love those precious moments.

The fact that I have very few photos of him being normal because he refuses to be serious or actually smile in a photo. I think it's his life-goal to ruin as many photos as possible.Yet, I look through them and crack up every time...

I thank God every day for this man. What a blessing he is in my life.
My heart is happy and content.

Okay, go ahead and gag from the lovey-mushiness... all done, I promise!

Nurse Dinner Party & Celebration

My friend Christine (fellow med-student-wife. Check out her blog,  Apartment 46) graduated Nursing School! Woo hoo! Such an accomplishment and an excellent opportunity to celebrate. With everyone in attendance in the medical field, my other RN friend, Catherine, and I worked together to host a breakfast-for-dinner party full of medically-termed menu items. Here's your opportunity to stop reading if you want... Hope this doesn't gross you out!

I think Catherine and I had just as much fun spontaneously planning it (the morning of) as we did enjoying the little get-together. Check out some of the menu items!

Some favorites were:
 Chymal Crunch
Sputum Spuds
Pus, Placenta Waffles
Hematurinade (strawberry lemonade. Hematuria=bloody urine)
&
Apple Emesis Pies

We filled saline flush syringes (completely sterile packaged & even washed prior to use) with strawberry puree for everyone to ooze into their lemonade beverages. Thus making hematurinade or hematuria (bloody urine).

There's Catherine working hard on the menu!
{bones}
 Bile & Adipose, Albumin-Infused Epithelial Wrap = (Avacado, Ham, & egg crepe fold-over) {Via}
 Chymal Crunch= Potato, bacon, egg, & cheese muffin-shaped bites   {Via}
Apple Emesis Pies (served with ice cream)  {Via}

The gorgeous graduate!

The boys...  1st year of med school nearly complete!
"Open your surprise Mommy. I hope it's a toy!"  ~Sam
 Nope, just some new scrubs!
Great times with good friends! Congrats again, Christine; & thanks for taking some of these photos as well!
