25 Weeks | Baby Reyna

Yahoo for 25 weeks! Our little darling is the size of a cauliflower head this week at approximately 1.5 lbs and 13.5 inches. Still lots of growing to do!

The past week has kind of been a drag. I had no idea how much a simple virus/cold can wipe out a pregnant lady. Whew! I am thankful to report that prior to this, I cannot remember the last time I was sick. So, I guess my time had to come eventually. I'm finally starting to feel better and by tomorrow hope to be good as new. I'm sure getting tired of missing work and steering clear of friends. I'm also getting tired of mouth breathing. Gross. I sound like an old man...

Now that you are thoroughly grossed out, I am thrilled to report that while cooped up inside, I slowly finished assembling baby girl's dresser. I'm planning to take a break from Ikea furniture for a while to recoup. I also took advantage of a random bout of energy (and lack of smell) to paint an accent wall in baby girl's nursery. In fact, there was much painting going on in the Reyna household this week. Our kitchen cabinets received a fresh coat of paint (by professionals). It sure livens up our little abode. I'm definitely getting into the nesting phase and wish I had more energy to do everything on my mind.

Andrew started his surgery rotation and has been working very long hours but comes home and always makes it a priority to check in on "his girls." What a lucky little girl our baby is to have Andrew as her dad. He already is such a great one. My heart melts when he sings to her. Andrew has a brain full of sweet songs that his own Dad sang to him growing up. Such sweet memories he shares of those moments between him and his Dad. The best part is how much baby girl moves when Andrew talks and sings to her. I'm not even kidding. She will not move much for me all day and then when her Daddy comes around, it's a dance party in there. I think she already has a favorite parent...

Though it has been somewhat of an off week, my heart remains thankful. So. incredibly. thankful. 15 ~ish weeks to go!

Family Spring Beach Trip 2014

Each year, Andrew's extended family gets together for a beach trip on the Oregon coast. Though not everyone was able to be there for the entire time, most were able to make at least a day or two. The weather was sunny and beautiful for the first few days (a rare site on the Oregon coast), and rainy/stormy the last couple of days. I like a mixture of the two. The rain and crashing waves sure make for a cozy state of mind. Just right for a restful vacation.

Sorry for the overload of photos below. This post is more for our own memory's sake.

We enjoyed having the youngsters in the house this year!
Isaac discovered many yummy treats. His favorite might have been cheetos. He even made up a song about them. And... Andrew insisted on buying some when we got home. "Cheeeeeetooooo..."

Isaac (22 months) impressed everyone with his extended vocabulary and remarkable understanding/retention. This kiddo is quite amazing. I love the simple fact that he knows everyone's name (16 of us). What a joy it has been to watch this little guy grow up.

Then there's Lady Eliza (3 months). She got lots of cuddling and loving. What's not to love?
My favorite meal was made by Nick & Michelle (Bro & Sis in law). Gourmet waffles!
The boys couldn't forget their yearly sand castle build or ocean plunge...

Our friends even came out to the coast to hang with us for a day. Loved getting to see them and enjoy this windy day together.

I set up sewing camp and finally pieced together my quilt. Still lots of work to be done...
Most of all, I enjoyed having my hubby around. I'm so thankful he got a "spring break" this year. What a blessing.
Next year our little one will be joining the beach crew! Can't wait!

24 Weeks | Baby Reyna

Happy 24 weeks! Our baby girl is growing bigger by the day. Oh my! I think this might be first week that there's really no denying that this growing belly is a baby and not just extra munchies. Baby girl is the length of an ear of corn (nearly a foot long) and weighs 1.32 lbs. My uterus is apparently the size of a soccer ball (specially noted for my soccer-loving hubby).  Her kicks are getting stronger and wake me up from sleep from time to time. Those kicks still make me smile- even in the middle of the night. The most exciting development is the discovery that her movements can be seen instead of just felt! This brought much laughter for Andrew and I the first time we realized it.

The nursery is slowly coming along with the addition of a half-built dresser. I have a love/hate relationship with Ikea. Along with other house improvement/upkeep to-do's, I'll be building drawers in my free time this week.

As far as this pregnancy goes in the physical department, I am finally home-free in the kitchen and can cook/eat most things again. Hallelujah! I do not miss those nausea-ridden, weak days one bit. My gag reflex is still a bit hyperactive and I'll use that as my excuse to avoid the dentist visit I'm over due for.  I'm still able to wear most of my jeans and pants but only because I seem to be carrying this little one quite high. I have a feeling that may not last for too much longer. Tomorrow may be a different story. The braxton hicks contractions I've been having since about 17 weeks stay at bay with limited activity, thus making it difficult to do many of the more active things I enjoy doing. Walks are cut quite short; even grocery shopping and running errands are sometimes cut short. But, all checks out fine and baby girl is looking lovely and healthy in there. We'll take it! Pillows are my best friends, as are fruit and rice krispies cereal. Not sure if those will ever get old. The passing-out/lightheaded episodes have seemed to die down as well- another halleluiah! All to say, I've had my issues and fair 'pregnancy complaints,' but I wouldn't trade a single day for anything. Our darling girl is worth every discomfort. I mean that with every bit of my being. We love her so much already...

We are so thankful for you sweet girl. Keep growing little biscuit baby of mine.
