Blog break...

I'm officially taking a break for a few weeks from the blog-osphere. I can hardly keep up with life as it is. So, the blog goes on the back burner for a bit until I'm all caught up! However, I'm still reading my favorite blogs (I need to share a list of my favs)- they make for a great way to procrastinate fully waking up for a few extra minutes each day.

Hasta luego mis amigos.

Thank you to all who read, follow, comment, message, & email me. I primarily blog as a creative outlet and way to record memories and experiences, but I've learned that it also helps connect me with others. Thanks for taking time of our your day to read/browse this little space!

Quality time

Days like these don't often come around in rainy Portland, Oregon. The sun was shining, the air was brisk, the water shimmered. It was a perfect Saturday for a walk with the one you love. Perfect beginning to February. We are blessed to live along a walking path that leads directly to... wait for it... Starbucks! Bonus points there folks! Even Andrew, with his disapproving attitude of my love for starbucks, wanted to walk to get a cup of jo. Super bonus points to that!

We find that it often takes getting out of the house to have quality time together. It takes getting away from the computers, textbooks, tvs, iPhones, lists of chores, etc. Such a distraction electronics can be. ...Though, I must admit that even so, I'm very guilty of instagramming nearly everything. Really though, our best conversations are had on walks or out to a meal, or on car rides, or right before sleep. I'm so grateful for these times to pursue one another. I'm thankful for the time to dig deeper into the heart of my lover. To discover what pains him, worries him, delights him. After 8 and a half years together, I'm still learning new things about him. I'm still caught in true amazement at his kind soul and steadfast loyalty. He's a keeper and I'm thankful that God chose and entrusted me to be Andrew's wife. What a blessing.

Baby London

Meet baby London. What a perfect, sweet 2.5 month old he is. His mama is also a good friend who I love spending time with. We enjoyed a baby photoshoot yesterday afternoon over 7-layer leftover super bowl dip. Yum. Hope you like them!

PS- Anyone notice that every baby photo session I've ever done is of baby boys? Need some friends to have baby girls! Get with the program friends :)...

T-shirt Quilts

How was everyone's weekend? I thoroughly enjoyed finally having a weekend off and getting to spend lots of much needed time with the mister. I've kind of been working like a crazy lady, picking up extra shifts each week. I hate it while I'm working so much but always say, 'that wasn't so bad' when I get my pay check. Anyway, today I bring you a special project...

All cut and positioned to show grandma my "plan/vision" for the quilt

This project has been on my to-do list for many, many months. Thanks to my amazing Grandma who sews like none other, it is now complete and made it's appearance in perfect timing for one of Andrew's Christmas presents. I must admit, she did most of the sewing work. But I did a lot of cutting, ironing, and incorrect pinning (that Grandma had to re-do...).

Andrew has stacks and stacks of soccer t-shirts that he couldn't stand to lose, but that I couldn't stand to have sitting around. So, a manly t-shirt quilt was in the works! Plaid flannel lines the backs so that they can be either t-shirt-y or more plain and flannel-y. We've much enjoyed them so far and have kept nice and warm with their help.

What makes my heart especially happy is that Andrew loves them.

During my Texas visit in December, I helped a bit with the finishing touches...
This quilt made use of the backs of most of his t-shirts. Lots of Adidas symbols!

Thanks for helping this project come to true life, Grandma! You're the best!
